Interior car detailing at Absolute Precision Custom Detailing currently starts at $165 for a sedan or truck. Larger vehicles and interiors requiring more intensive cleaning cost more, with our Interior Deep Clean beginning at $299.

But the size of the vehicle is only part of the equation.

When someone asks how much it costs to detail a car interior, I also need to understand what is going on inside the vehicle. A cabin with routine dust, crumbs and light wear does not require the same process as one with ground-in dirt, widespread staining, embedded pet hair or an odor that keeps returning.

That is why our interior services are divided into different levels. The goal is to match the service to the vehicle instead of charging every customer for work they do not need—or promising that an inexpensive refresh can correct a much larger problem.

What Is Included in an Interior Refresh?

Our Interior Refresh Detail is intended for a vehicle that needs thorough professional cleaning but is not heavily neglected.

Current prices are:

  • Sedan or truck: $165
  • Two-row SUV: $185
  • Three-row SUV: $205
  • Extra-large SUV, minivan or Wrangler-type vehicle: $225

The service includes:

  • Thorough vacuuming of seats, carpets and floor mats
  • Vacuuming of the trunk or hatch area
  • Attention to small spaces and other accessible areas
  • Shampooing of cloth seats and floor mats
  • Cleaning and rehydration of rubberized mats
  • Headliner and sun-visor cleaning as needed
  • Cleaning of the dashboard, console, cupholders and door panels
  • Cleaning and protection of leather seating
  • UV protection for appropriate interior surfaces
  • Cleaning around air vents and seat rails
  • Interior glass and mirror cleaning
  • Air freshener

This is a much more complete service than a quick vacuum and wipe-down. It is a good fit for routine buildup, everyday spills that have not become severe and interiors that need to feel properly refreshed again.

Pet-hair removal and individual stain treatments are available at an additional cost.

When Does a Vehicle Need an Interior Deep Clean?

Our Interior Deep Clean is intended for interiors with more substantial problems, including:

  • Ground-in dirt
  • Heavily soiled carpeting
  • Multiple or stubborn stains
  • Built-up oils and grime on leather
  • Neglected cupholders and interior surfaces
  • Dirt accumulated around vents, rails and small spaces
  • Interiors that need more extensive sanitation

Pricing begins at:

  • Sedan: $299
  • Mid-size SUV or truck: $329
  • Three-row SUV: $359
  • Extra-large SUV, minivan or Wrangler-type vehicle: $389

In addition to detailed vacuuming and surface cleaning, this package includes more extensive carpet and upholstery shampooing, stain treatment, deeper leather cleaning and high-temperature steam cleaning in areas such as air vents and cupholders.

The Interior Deep Clean is not automatically necessary just because a vehicle has not been detailed recently. Some well-maintained vehicles can go a long time without developing severe buildup. Other interiors—especially family vehicles, work trucks and vehicles used to transport pets—may need more intensive attention much sooner.

The right choice depends on the condition, not simply the age of the vehicle.

What Affects the Cost of Interior Car Detailing?

Vehicle size gives us a starting point, but several other factors can affect the amount of work required.

Pet hair

Pet hair is one of the most time-consuming interior problems we encounter.

Loose hair may vacuum up quickly, but embedded hair can become woven into carpet fibers, seat fabric and the material around trunks and cargo areas. Removing it properly may require specialized tools and repeated passes over the same area.

Pet-hair removal currently starts at $100 when added to a qualifying service.

If your vehicle regularly carries a dog or another pet, let us know before the appointment. Photos are helpful because the amount of hair matters more than simply knowing that a pet has been in the vehicle.

Stains

Individual stain treatment currently starts at $35 per seat with applicable packages.

The final result depends on:

  • What caused the stain
  • How long it has been present
  • Whether it has been exposed to heat
  • The material that was stained
  • Products already used on it
  • Whether the discoloration has permanently altered the material

Coffee, milk, makeup, food, grease and biological accidents do not all respond to the same treatment. Applying the wrong cleaner can set a stain, spread it or damage the material surrounding it.

Professional treatment can often produce a dramatic improvement, but not every permanent discoloration can be guaranteed to disappear completely.

Vehicle size and configuration

Larger interiors naturally take more time, but seating configuration also matters.

A three-row SUV has additional seats, carpeting, cupholders, trim and narrow spaces to clean. Minivans and family SUVs can also contain more storage areas, seat tracks and movable components than a typical sedan.

Trucks can vary considerably as well. A lightly used passenger truck may require less interior work than a smaller vehicle used daily as a work vehicle.

The amount of buildup

A vehicle does not need to look disastrous to require substantial labor.

Dirt accumulates along the edges of carpeting, around controls, beneath seats, inside cupholders and along seat rails. Body oils, lotions and other residue can gradually build up on steering wheels, armrests, leather and frequently touched surfaces.

That buildup may not come off safely with one quick pass. Professional interior detailing involves selecting products and methods appropriate for each material.

Special contamination

Mold, persistent odors, bodily fluids and other forms of contamination require more than ordinary interior detailing.

These situations may call for specialized cleaning, odor control, additional safety precautions or a different service entirely. They should always be disclosed before booking so we can determine whether the vehicle can be serviced and what process is appropriate.

Can Interior Detailing Remove Car-Seat Stains?

Many stains can be removed or significantly improved, but the honest answer is that it depends.

A relatively recent spill sitting near the surface of the fabric may respond very well. An older stain that has been repeatedly heated by the sun, treated with multiple household cleaners or absorbed deeply into the seat can be more difficult.

There is also a difference between a stain and permanent material damage. Cleaning can remove contamination, but it cannot always reverse fading, dye loss, chemical bleaching or wear.

When evaluating a stain, we consider:

  • The type of upholstery
  • The likely source
  • Its age
  • Whether it has an odor
  • Previous cleaning attempts
  • The safest chemistry for that material

The goal is to achieve the best possible improvement without causing damage by becoming unnecessarily aggressive.

Pet hair removal how much does interior car detailing cost in charlotte nc

Does Interior Detailing Include Pet-Hair Removal?

Our interior services include detailed vacuuming, but extensive pet-hair removal is priced separately and currently starts at $100.

That does not mean every visible strand of hair automatically triggers an additional charge. The difference is the amount of labor involved.

A small amount of loose hair is very different from hair embedded throughout the seats, carpets, trunk and areas beneath the seating. If pet hair is one of your main concerns, send clear photographs before the appointment so we can reserve enough time.

Can Interior Detailing Remove Odors?

Interior cleaning can correct many odors when the source is dirt, food residue, spills or other contamination that can be physically removed.

Persistent odors are more complicated.

Smoke, pet odors, mold and mildew, food spills and other organic sources can penetrate upholstery, carpet padding and ventilation systems. If the source remains, an air freshener or surface cleaning may hide the smell temporarily without eliminating it.

Absolute Precision Custom Detailing offers a specialized Odor Control Treatment starting at $599. This service is performed by an IICRC-certified Odor Control Technician and uses specialized equipment and professional chemistry to address odor at its source rather than simply covering it.

A cabin-air-filter replacement may also be recommended before or after treatment. Heavily soiled areas or spills can require deep cleaning in addition to odor treatment.

If odor is the primary reason you are scheduling service, tell us what the odor smells like, when you notice it and what may have caused it. That information helps us determine whether standard interior detailing is appropriate.

What Is the Difference Between Interior Detailing and a Basic Car Wash?

A basic car wash may offer a quick vacuum and surface wipe-down. That can be useful for routine upkeep, but it is not the same as a detailed interior service.

Professional interior detailing may involve:

  • Cleaning different materials with appropriate products
  • Working around seat rails, vents and narrow spaces
  • Shampooing upholstery and floor mats
  • Treating specific stains
  • Deep cleaning leather
  • Addressing accumulated oils and grime
  • Using steam where appropriate
  • Applying UV protection to suitable surfaces
  • Evaluating odors and contamination

The distinction is not simply how many products are used. It is the time, training and judgment involved in determining what each surface needs.

Is Professional Interior Detailing Worth the Cost?

That depends on what you expect from the service.

If you only need loose crumbs vacuumed from an otherwise clean vehicle, you may not need an intensive professional detail. But if you want a thorough reset, are struggling with stains or pet hair, have purchased a used vehicle or simply cannot get the interior clean with ordinary products, professional detailing can save considerable time and frustration.

It can also help you avoid common DIY problems such as:

  • Over-saturating seats and carpeting
  • Leaving cleaning residue behind
  • Using products that create a greasy finish
  • Damaging screens or sensitive trim
  • Setting stains with the wrong chemistry
  • Trapping moisture beneath the surface
  • Masking an odor without removing its source

Professional detailing does not make an interior permanently maintenance-free. It gives you a cleaner starting point and makes regular upkeep more manageable.

How Long Does Interior Car Detailing Take?

The Interior Refresh generally takes approximately:

  • Sedan or truck: 1.5 hours
  • Two-row SUV: 2 hours
  • Three-row SUV: 2 hours
  • Extra-large vehicle: 2.5 hours

An Interior Deep Clean requires additional time because of the shampooing, stain treatment, steam cleaning and more extensive surface work involved.

Actual service time can vary based on condition. Pet hair, heavy staining and unexpected contamination can extend the appointment.

How Often Should You Have Your Car Interior Detailed?

There is no universal schedule for every driver.

Many vehicles benefit from professional detailing every three to six months, but your ideal schedule depends on how the vehicle is used.

You may need service more frequently if:

  • Children regularly ride in the vehicle
  • You transport pets
  • You eat or drink in the car
  • The vehicle is used for work
  • You regularly carry sports or outdoor equipment
  • The interior has light-colored fabric or leather
  • You spend significant time commuting

Once a vehicle has been properly detailed, regular maintenance can prevent it from returning to the condition that required a deep clean.

Absolute Precision Custom Detailing offers a Maintenance Detail for qualifying vehicles serviced by us within the previous six weeks. That package includes both interior and exterior upkeep and currently starts at $125.
